Clear Channel Communications wanted a product that could compete against the upcoming satellite and internet radio systems, since they were losing advertising revenue to those platforms. ODI developed a device that could be used for internet radio, tied to any of their radio stations with the touch on a button. It also functioned as a radio alarm clock, pay for performance appliance, analog receiver, and had clean acoustic electronics to tie the device to home stereo speakers.

ODI developed a safety watch for both kids and aging adults. The watch has full LTE, SOS features, video calling, GPS fencing and a band that locks removable only with a tool.

ODI was contracted by a startup company to make a riflescope that could take photos. The development resulted in the first ever camera built into a riflescope using an innovative temporal automatic shutter based on recoil. The image is automatically taken 20 milliseconds prior to a shot being fired, resulting in a clear image without blur or smoke.

This is an IOT building water leak detection company that ODI bought and repositioned and redeveloped their product line. ODI developed a hybrid MESH system architecture with long range, low power wireless sensors that can transmit through 20 floors of reinforced concrete. The company now has over 250 high rise buildings protected, including iconic buildings like the Sales Force Tower in San Francisco and is now national.

ODI was contracted to develop the next generation in holistic Pet Health. After a market and technology study, ODI developed a CEA awarded winning system that included a heating cooling pet bed with built in scale, tied to an activity collar with data that goes to the cloud where it is analyzed and recommendations given to the pet owners for activity, food, etc.

Police body cam. ODI developed a court certified wide angle body cam that could download an entire shifts worth of video is in seconds while the battery lasted for days. Loop record was always active to capture pre-events.

Heartmath is a company that focusses on stress reduction via biofeedback. ODI has developed and built their products for over 20 years. The Inner balance is one the latest in the line of these products and is based on a sensor that measures heart rhythm variation (HRV) and inter-beat interval (IBI). Algorithms are used to determine stress levels and certain exercises, like deep breathing and visualization are used to reduce stress, which is measured by the devices as feedback to help the user achieve lower stress goals. It is quite effective and great people to work with, they never seem to get upset.

The challenge was to capture and broadcast the America’s Cup crew’s voices during the San Francisco race to the audience. The crews were mic’ed and transmitted to the temporary Alcatraz radio station which then broadcast on a range of temporary FM frequencies. ODI then built the crowd receivers, with the use of a unique method using RDS, ODI could provision each radio with only the usable crew channels and label the channels for easy access. A listener could press channel 6 which the LCD would show “Italian Captain” and you could hear him searing in Italian to his crew. Fun, huh?

Iridian was looking for a high security device to use in UN and government deployments of needed food and blankets in war torn areas. ODI developed a system tied to what was a popular mobile device at the time, a PDA. We built a mobile Iris scan camera that could identify those that already picked up their allotment of food so it could be evenly distributed and avoid the black marketer’s.

The first PC camera made. A true icon of innovative technology. ODI developed the product in 90 days for Connectix Corp, including ID and tooling. Many sleepless nights to hit trade show dates. ODI subsequently built over 1.3 million Quickcams over the next 3 years, prior to Logitech purchasing the company.

PistolCam is an evidence gathering video device that attaches to officer’s side arm. When the weapon is pulled out of the holster, Pistolcam goes live, recording both sound and full frame video for as long as the weapon is out of the holster. Video is watermarked, password protected and is of evidence grade for courts. Pistolcam also has a 100 lumen LED light. Pistolcam was used by Secret Service several police agencies and extensively used in training.

The first LCD photo Album was a cooperative concept project between Kensington and ODI. ODI Developed and produced two versions, a VGA and a QVGA in six months. Digital photo albums are ubiquitous today.
